Our Green Efforts

This week we’ve been working hard to go green.

Ask your child about the following things going on in the fifth grade:
*our special visitor Andrew from the Lower East Side Ecology Center
*compost collection taking place throughout the school
*new recycling bins in every classroom
*gathering environmental stewardship themed ideas for our personal narratives

Post what you’ve learned from your child or questions you have by clicking “leave a comment.”. We’d love to hear from you!

Today we briefly discussed the tenth anniversary of September 11th. I suggested that students ask their families to share personal experiences from that day so they could learn more about it.

We also read a book titled, The Man Who Walked Between the Towers. Your children might be interested in learning more about Philippe Petit. YouTube has video clips from the documentary Man on Wire that you may want to watch with your child.
