State Take Home Project

Today your child received the directions and grading rubric for a take home project that will be due on October 5th. If you have any questions please leave a comment on this post, send an email or send a note to school with your child.

This work is to be completed out of the classroom. Please take advantage of the resources at the public library closest to your home or your child’s after school program.

Here is the information on the project (please consult the rubric on the back of the directions sheet that was sent home today).

Profile of a State Social Studies Project

Task: Students will create a brochure and map of one of the 50 states.

Use the checklist to make sure that your project has everything it needs:

Brochure
Name of your state
Picture of your state and of the state flag (illustration or printed from an online resource)
Natural resources and Climate
Population, state bird, state flower
Three important people from your state
Three interesting facts about your state

Labels for: state capital, five major cities, bodies of water
